Roy's Recollections
One of the Sharpes siblings came home one day with his report card which he then proceeded to proudly show his Mom. Mrs. Sharpe (whose command of Dutch was less than perfect - see Rita's Recollections) saw that her son had an "8" for "vlijt" (Dutch for diligence, but when pronounced sounding awfully close to "fluit" (Dutch for whistle)) and rebuked him by saying:
"You wait until Daddy comes home, he surely won't be happy to hear that you've whistled 8 times in class!!"
